A wonderful shot! Great composition, good light, and moody. I really like how you used the dominant tree on the right to anchor the foreground, and having the layering of the trees disappearing into obscurity. It really draws the viewers into the frame. The fog and the soft lighting is perfect for the emotion of the picture, giving a real sense of being in the forest. My only nitpick is the mildly distracting half-of-a-tree on the left edge of the frame. I'd crop a sliver off to improve the composition. A very nice shot.

Kim,

I agree with Petra about the splash of color by the ferns. I think the reason that the branches are distracting is because they aren't muted by the fog so they end up jutting out in stark contrast to the rest of the image.

fog here gives depth, mystry and creates an atomsphere of a fantasy tale... great work Kim

This came up on the randoms and simply pulled me into it. The deep saturation in the fog filtered light of the forest are quite enchanting. The composition has a lot of strength with the mass of the tree and the blue mist in the background. And, it's a nice place.

Good shot.

HI Kim,
you have some great work.. I like alot of your images. thanks for commenting on mine, I actually put up the wrong shot of the Pura Vida, tommorrow I will put up the other one, let me know which one you like better.
In terms of a scanner, look into epson perfection or a nikon scanner.
Happy Shooting...

this is a great shot. my only complaint is that the picture seems a little soft on details (the tree and the ferns). the light in the background coming through the fog and the trees is fantastic!

Great mood image! Maybe the tree a little too tight to the right edge?

You can just feel the dampness in this picture! I love the inclusion of the ferns on the ground, adding a splash of color. I like it very much, Kim!

Thanks Kevin and Megan... this was definitely the highlight of the Vancouver trip for photos... what a location, and with the fog... well, it made my day. Glad you enjoyed it!

Once again, a great photo. This one distracts me slightly with the branches near the top of the photo.

It's not a bad distraction, but I just found I noticed them and they seemed "out of place" .. which is humorous considering they are branches on a tree.. But I think you know what I mean.

Love the fog, it gives the photo such mystery. It reminds me of a prehistoric post devonian swamp..
