About Oregon's appropiately named Paited Hills National Monument is dramaticly accentuated by a dark, firey morning sky in mid-summer. The hills are among the world's richest fossil beds and the erroded remains have become one of the most unique and photogenic landscapes I've ever seen.

I used a 3-stop GND filter to emphasize the dramatic sky and illuminate the colorful, textured hills.

Reminds me of the Eastern sections of Capitol Reef National Monument in Southern Utah, except Oregon's painted hills seem more photogenic . . . It's a very dramatic sky, with colors to rival the hills beneath. Great work!

Cheers,
-Mike.

Wow incredible shot, the balance of light between the land and sky is perfection. If it were mine I would rotate it a little to straighten the horizon. Beautiful!

This shot reminds me of a movie from '88, perhaps you saw it, Powaqqatsi?

Truly, an amazing photograph you have here.
