hugo, comments from you are valued as i know how highly skilled you are. i agree it is quite dark, this is my first try on using digital and borrowed this compact digital camera from work. made a lot of mistake on this shot, first not getting familiar with the camera settings, relied on the LCD screen much, relied on the auto white balance which can't seem to control properly as it keeps reading the sky's contrast, hands too cold due to winter (cycled to get here). it was taken awkwardly though dangling the camera on one of the bridge's gap and took this shot in a hurry. but it did made me decide to buy a digital slr which is good (still use my film slr once in a while). please feel free to comment on my other work if you got time!
Hi Cernan, thanks for your comment. Much appreciated! I like the natural framing, drawing the viewers attention to the chatting ducks. I do feel the image is a bit dark, and I would increase the midtone contrasts a tad. Also, as to the composition, I think a landscape format, cropping the image just above the waterfall would probably make it easier for the viewer to focus on the primary subject. Obviously, such remarks are always triggered by personal perception and liking, and are therefore pretty subjective...;) Per attached the crop I had in mind...
