Thanks very much Luigi! It is one of my personal favourites too. Although a very common bird, in a common pose, there is something about it that just hits the spot for me. Thanks again, Andre

Thanks Kes, I'm not sure if these are Chokecherries or not. I don't think so though because these have faded to a light, see through red. But we do have the kind that turn purple too. Most of what you detect as blur is actually DOF effect from branches in front of the lens. I wasn't sure if that would detract from the image, but it seems to have worked out okay. I couldn't tell you what Canada's national bird was. I thought it was the Canada Goose or the Loon. But, I looked it up and apparently we don't actually have an official national bird. There is some kind of survey going out right now where we can choose our national bird. It looks like their are a few favourites. I wouldn't have thought so, but the Red Tailed Hawk is at the top of the list right now. Yes, robins have tiny drumsticks, but if you get enough of them together, they still make a good sized meal. ;) Andre

Spot on, Andre. This is Canada's national bird? The berries resemble unripe Chokecherries, which turn dark black/purple when "ripe". The problem with Robins, as you know, it the tiny drumsticks. Nice blurs and DOF here.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the comment. I think you are right. I find that the light has to be just right for the details of a Robin's feathers to show nicely. Andre

Hi Stan, I'm not sure what those berries are called. But, a lot of Robins and Cedar Waxwings were filling up on them before their big migration. This shot came out much better than I anticipated. So, I'm glad I didn't just concentrate on the "fancier" Waxwings. We just put our boat away for the winter last weekend and had a little snow while driving back to the city. Soon all my outdoor shots will have a winter flavour to them :) Thanks for the comment. Andre

Thanks Kelly, They are a very common bird over here. So, they are quite often overlooked while we search for more uncommon species. I'm glad I took a few shots of this one. Andre

Excellent capture of this classic bird, Andre! Even though they're fairly common they're not that easy to get a good shot of. Dave.

Great shot in not great light. Good colors and sharpness. The bokeh is a beautiful b/g. The Robins are out of here. Down to Magpies and Ravens. The Geese are getting ready to bail with the others!! We are getting snow in the upper elevations today and last night. be well, stan
