E ~ what do you mean "a stop of underexposure"?? this is Tri-X 320 but I meter this film at ISO 250. is it better that I underexpose this film and shoot at a higher ISO?

Bryan, this is very nice...I don't know if you were shooting at ISO320, but the Tri-X pan can take a stop of underexposure without aditional development.
You portfolio is superb!

that is why I purchased a bunch of used film holders from ebay -- i think I got a 50-sheet box of Tri-X 320 for about $45. much better than the quickloads at $2-$3 per sheet :)

I have a Fuji quickload holder that I'm using for ACROS film (landscape) but for the Tri-X, I'm using film holders (regal and fidelity). I do not have a tank yet to process the LF negs so I've been taking them to 'positive reaction' - they specialize in LF film.

my friend..
it's womnderful, is so similar to a Elliot Erwitt's shot!
the mood and the expresion and the cut in horizzontal is the touch! I love the film and this is an optimal use of the film! two great sweet eyes express to you and! in with of the DOf on the bed! it is an so intimate relationship . please send me (if you want) your ideas on the use and quality of films, mostly I make color!
cheers

Hi Bryan,
I did the same experiment with The Apo-Symmar 150 at 5,6... DOF is not so much and also the flashes I used to pump the light were at the limit but....we have to do practice :))))

wow so you are going big now! :) I was always tempted but the way I like to take photos is incompatible with that kind of a camera. I love the small DOF in general.

oh GG you make me laugh !!!! you should see me with this camera. my lovely bride looked at me and said "why are you sooooooooo slow with this camera!!" but I did want to see how deep the focus was at f/5,6. clearly NOT MUCH :)

with the low light (cloudy day) and the extra bellows extension, the exposure was VERY long.

btw, the Sironar S is absolutely brilliant. very sharp and very large image circle.

thanks Guiliano!

ahahah!

Let me know : what was you testing?
Your camera with a stunning lens (Sironar S!) or her patient to stay half an hour in front of the camera waiting for the set up, the focus, closing the shutter, the insert of the sheet, the click, ops... you forgot to arm the shutter, arm the shutter, take of the volet of the back, click!

:))))

She's not a woman, she's an angel :))))

Anyway the shot is nice also if I think that best performance of these LF lenses is between f16-f32

Bye bye

I have looked in to maybe going to medium format but i think i'll tinker with 35mm and digital for a while. you are absolutely right; it is amazing the clarity you can get in the larger formats. keep up the good work and continue to share with us.

thanks Michael. I know there are quite a few LF users on this site... hoping they would stop by and throw around a little advice for me --- maybe I am too optimistic *LOL*

but I do have to say what I am stunned by is the clarity and detail of the one area that I did successfully focus --> the eyes. the negative and print are sooooooo beautiful. I have never seen such detail like this in any foto I have ever taken. the eyes look like crystals in the print!

thanks again Michael.

Bryan, this is a very good test. Your right; you wouldn't think the DOF would be so shallow at 5.6 but it still works beautifully.

rharyanto -- it appears you are only one who likes the test :) yes the Shen Hao is made in China. I purchase this maybe 3 weeks ago. beautiful camera and very good craftsmanship.

I try this photo at f/5,6 I did not think the DOF would be so shallow at 5,6 -- it is razor thin!
