Great capture George... I like the oversharpness of this image... especially since the 'amigo' at the centre of this image does not take on the sharp tone (cept from the sombrero) which makes him sink into the photo adding to the effect.
Must also comment on Carlos brilliant story.... sometimes the life of a photographer should come with some pretty heavy life insurance.. tee hee

Très belle composition, belle lumière et belles zones d'ombres sur le personnage; le chapeau est super. C'est ce que je fais ces temps-ci avec une pelle toute semblable.

Great portrait mate, I'm envious of the hat though I'm sure it would be useless here - it doesn't look waterproof enough!
Not sure whether it's the sharpening or not but there is an appearance of a three dimensional effect!

Yes, Thilo, another skirmish in the ongoing issue of how much to sharpen! My inclination is to do less, but I'm often chided for that. If I have another reason/excuse, it's that this is the first time I used the "Smart Sharpen" option in PS-CS2. Thanks for the keen eye. I think I agree with your appraisal. --g

Hi George,
perhaps a bit oversharpened (let's say: I see different levels of sharpness here, so I suppose you did some PS maigc), but nevertheless a nice work.

Thanks, Carlos. He was in a very genial mood. The work was obvious very hard, but the temperature was reasonably cool. The hat was the thing that made everyone smile. I don't think I was in immediate danger. :-) --g

I had some awful summer jobs in the long ago past. Ditch digging was up there on the scale of awfulness? I was once in a situation very much like your labor here (minus the amazing sombrero) when a photographer approach me, camera ready - I was dirty, sweaty, tired, truly fed up (and envious of the photographers life ;-) ). I remember feeling just murderous towards the fellow?
This a good shot George ? a dangerous shot!
