About I'm in complete denial of the weeks of non-stop, flood-like weather here in Vancouver. I've receeded into my warm happy place which includes lots of sunflowers!
This was handheld in order to get the camera as close as straight-on as possible (the plant was about 7 feet tall!)

Excellent composition with the tight framing. You got some gorgeous light on this one.

Thanks for your kind words, Kim.

The petals were a little on the green side before opening, but I can probably play around with it in PS so that it's a little less noticable. Thanks for the comment... sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. January was a busy month!

Very pretty, Kim - I like the way it seems to be popping it's petals open one at a time! Is it a little on the green side or are the petals greenish before opening?

I feel like telling this sunflower "Nice hat!"

and I will tell you:

"Fantastic photo!"

The lighting gives a very nice texture to the image and works well with the interesting color, which to me seems muted but still vibrant. It certainly does convey a feeling of warmth, which it sounds like you could use.

It's dry here in Tennessee, but colder than normal, which is fine with me. Single digit temps helped wake me up when I stepped outside about 3 this morning to go on a fire call. Nice photo Kim.

This one caught my eye and I loved the name you chose. Great detail and intriguing lines of movement.
