About There's something about the sun filtering through wheat that is ultimately Albertan.

Thank you both for your fast comments. I liked the fact of the solitary wheat strand, but if I am to keep with that, a bug or bird would do nicely to add some interest. Thanks for that idea.
And I will have to start hunting around through the lens of my camera to see what more wheat will look like.
Again, thanks for the quick replies!

Right before the sun sets it goes through so much atmosphere that it becomes muted and there is no danger of flare.

I'm sorry, Kim but I love this shot just the way it is. I love the silhouetted bown shape of the land and the encroaching darkness above.

If you are restless with this image, take two (or four) white envelopes and go at it on the screen. One strong suggestion would be a vertical cropped equally on both sides of the wheat stem and the sun.

Regards

hey kim,

the background is nice..
to improve the shot you could improve on the foreground i guess..
more wheat strands or more interesting formations of it
or a bug sitting on a wheat strand, etc..

Kim...

You make a good point. There aren't enough items in this image to hold it all together.

The sun isn't very interesting in any shot since it usually shows a bright ball.

There isn't enough wheat here to add any foreground interest and I'm searching for something to hang on to. This would be a little better if were looking "through" the wheat since that would add interesting shapes and texture.

Good idea..keep going.

Is there any cropping that you could suggest that would make this image have more impact? Or for the next time I shoot, how I can compose the shot to make this more interesting?
Very few people have commented on this, so I think that they all must not like the composition as well... but maybe they can't tell me what it is that bothers them about it. But how am I to learn unless I know what makes people feel uniterested about this shot? *grin*

Hope to hear from people about some suggestions to try, or if I should just try something completely different becuase this is too cliche.

There seems to be very little flare on this photo, and that shooting right into the sun ! The colours are those typical warm evening/morning colours.I am not a big fan of the composition though, seems a bit uninteresting to me, but I can be wrong. I have just returned from a trip to Alberta, but unfortunately, I did not see much of this sun there. :(
