A good point about the lighting, John, and your description helps me to get much more out of the image. I really like the luminousness of the leaves, and the repetition of graphic elements. And you're absolutely right, discussion of our work with thoughtful, creative others is what really makes this site so enjoyable and useful.

Thanks for your comment Tim. It is alraedy a pretty tight crop. That's one of the problems when photographing in the bush, what is the point of focus.
My fascination for this image is the obvious repetitive pattern of the fronds but also the reversal of the normal lighting; Light foreground, darker background giving a feeling of recession. Here the background is lighter, conveying (to me) the feeling of moving through the undergrowth.
The chance to discuss one's posts with like minded people is one great advantage of a site like this.
Regards John

Fascinating abstract pattern and decadent color saturation, John. My only qualification is that the image is so busy my eye keeps wandering around looking for a point to fix on. Perhaps a tighter crop somehow? Just a thought. Regards. Tim

Hi John,Strong pattern shot of these developing fern fronds, great lighting, the out of focus one in the background adds to depth and keeps the eye looking into the image,a great natural history shot. Regards Micky.

I really like the duplicity of this image. At first glance it could be plant or animal or some composite of the two. Very interesting shot. Great sense of layering.
Very nice photo. Fits in well with the rest of your portfolio. New Zealand is a beautiful place.
