athena and moon were two people that i met on WSU's campus in '98. they were traveling from god knows where, on their way to california. we were playing kongie (a game played with rocks that athena apparently picked up from some children in korea) when i took this photo.
i was taking a b&w photography class at the time; this was for our "people" project. as with most of my shots/prints at the time, this one tends toward the two extremes of the dark/light scale. it was shot in very direct noon sunlight...so i'm honestly not sure how i could have toned it down. suggestions are welcome...
