About Second of archery series, taken when standing about 10 yards in front of the archer. Was concentrating on getting the line between sight mechanism and the archer's eye perfect, resulting in a perfect "targetted" view.

wow, this is very cool. i like the subject matter and composition. a bit too dark in exposure perhaps. but this could definitely be an editorial image.

This is my favorite of the archery photos you posted. I like how you see the strong line of her body/posture and the tough confidence in her expression...makes me feel like she will sure as hell hit her target. The patterned colors of her clothes bring interest and draw her out from the dark background. Nice shot!

All,
Thank you for your comments - I agree this image has less "oomph" than the previous one, especially when that one is cropped as suggest by Steve K.
This was a shot the magazine were particularly interested in, the "head-on" shot, and one I was willing to try. Given a chance in future I will take similar shots but far closer cropped rather than including the entire bow.
Thanks again for commenting, much appreciated
Chris

like this one too - the composition, the dof, and the tension it creates. the sunglasses really add to the whole photo as well.

I think this is a more standard shot than the previous one, where you had the limited DOF, and strong shadow on the face. The dangerous point of view in this photo does give it some tension. You could try to superpose the arch on the face of the person, maybe that you can just see one eye (being very concentrated), or something like this. I would seek for more unusual views - and crop tightly. You do not even need to show the entire face. (not that I would succeed in doing this, I am just rambling a bit;)

some risky business...

I think I actually liked your earlier shot more, it seems to capture the concentration of the archer more so than this image.
