Perfect shot! It's not easy to take a picture of a Cicindela, especially from this point of view... To me the out of focus is not disturbing, it helps drawing the attention on the eyes and "chompers". Bravo!

excellent shot.. david.. very beautiful colors.. way out of this world. I have a question for you David? Are you afraid of bugs.. or you don't mind them jumping on to you.. have you got bitten by one of these bugs...

great macro, i now how difficult it is. But a little bit more sharpnes on the anntenna would make the picture stronger. But I realise this is almost impossible.

This is one view that will have me running the opposite direction FAST! I hate bugs, but this is a great shot. Taken at this view, it give the beetle a real intimidating view - like your the dinner.
The only thing I'd say would improve this photo all the better would have been to have included more of the antennae in focus, especially true with the left one. The left one blurs out focus a little too quickly and almost looks like another rear leg on the beetle (at a glance).
Other than that, it's a frightingly great photo.
