Thanks Biljana,
It seems like only yesterday that I took this image. But now the landscape has changed completely to Fall colour.

Hi Andrzej,

I would tend to agree with you that sundowns are generally more to everyones liking. I would also suggest that they are probably easier to shoot. That is to say, the conditions are often more forgiving. With the image above, I had really nice light and it is hard to miss when the landscape looks this good. :)

I like both morning and evening images myself. I do believe that morning mist and fog are much more challenging to work with. I really like the subtle moods created by slow rising mist.

Hi Andre!

I can tell you that for me it is visible that no big changes have been made. It is absolutely clear to me. It just looks "pure".

The wide angle.. it compresses the width and expands the depth, if you like, and so the landscape appears in front of our eyes in its grandiosity. A kind of geometry manipulation perhaps. But it is still not changing reality.

Many times I also go for a vertical format in similar cases. This allows catching everything, right from in front of your feet up to the horizon. And this is also very impressive in the sense that the whole range of depth is present. Add hyperfocusing in such a case and the images fly but still so naturally and without any need for artificially boosting them beyond recognition. I think this one is an excellent representant of that sort of image.

Cheers!

Nick

Andre,
great and really very content intensive luminous scene, lovely details in skies, waters and line of horizon. I like the mood set you've presented here very much.
As you likely noticed I'm rather after morning moods but the truth is that sundown moments are more appealing to viewers, would you agree?
Cheers,
NJ

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the great comment on this one. I was afraid some people might think that there was a lot of manipulation on this one. But, there really wasn't a lot of "bar tweaking" I took quite a few shots, some earlier and some later, with different settings.
I suppose the 18mm focal length is a sort of manipulation that works to enhance the drama in images like this one. The ironic thing is that this is a full frame portait format image, rather than landscape format. It just seemed to pop out at me this way. I'm happy with the result.

Thanks Dave,
I got it at a pretty good time. A little earlier and it was too bright for anything other than a blown out reflection. A little later and it was getting too dark.

Thanks for the comment Gary.
Yes, it's usually nice for paddling in the evening and first thing in the morning. My youngest son and I were out in the kayaks last weekend for about three hours per day. I can't think of a better way to keep in shape. :)

ps This one wasn't taken from the kayak.

Yes, this is exactly what I find best for views of such grandiosity! Take the wide angle! Glad you did so, Andre!

What a perspective and enhancement of the natural flair but without transfroming it to something that never existed! The sun goes down and the place fancies in all its glory on the image - but its *own* glory and not any kind of artificially introduced whishful thinking.

The two "planes", the water surface and the clouds layer, give the depth an extra boost which still remains natural. Especially the water I consider very well captured. The clouds are also very good. I only think that at the very top of the image the start losing the strong contours that they have elsewhere. I think that this goes back to the fact that they appear "magnified" there simply because they are nearer to the lens.

The difference between light and shadow adds much tension and finishes up so well with the sunlight rays at the depth. For me, one of your top landscapes!

Cheers!
