About I have decided it is time to say thank you and farewell to my good old faithful D-50 body. I have packed the body in its original carton. I must have made a 50.000 shots or so with it.
Plenty of raw stuff to fill usefilm the coming 10 years. The only lens remaining is the 105 mm 2.8 macro. I can keep it and I can sell it.

In the mean time I have ordered a Panasonic FZ 100. Not a DSLR but a good replacement for the time being. Nice thing is that it has a powerful zoom and that will bring things closer to me. Which is handy at the moment bcse my travel range is a bit limited. And last but not least, it brings me back to a point and shoot camera. That means I can forget about the detailed settings, and focus on the image. The most important factor.

And when my travel range increases again, it is a nice travel all purpose camera. Basically it is the Leica Vlux 2 in a different color and at a lower pricing ( I dont pay for the difference which mainly is adobe elements 8.0 at approx 200 euro ) and the red dot rated at 100 Euro.

So nothing wrong with the FZ100 and I expect pretty good image qualty here.

Brings up the question:
-what is next ?
-a good time to reconsider to stay with Nikon, change to Canon or Sony ?
-or go a totally different way with eg a Rolleiflex or Leica ?
-by the way a pinhole camera would be nice as well, it is not the camera but the photographers eye that makes the image

Any suggestions from your side ?

Harry

Nice colorful image with good detail. Good luck with your new camera. You can get good photos with any camera. It's all about light and knowing where to stand.
Regards, Allen

When I saw the words " good glass" I had to think of a good glass of wine ;-)
But indeed, the eye and glass are all you need.
Best wishes

Yes, it is not the camera but the photographers eye matters...

Just find joy in the images you see!! The rest is just confusing marketing. Good glass and a good eye say much!!
Be well, Bop

By looking at this photo where you took the moment excellently it is not always the camera but the photographer's eye that make the image dear Harry ...

Be well :)

I like this photo of all the points of view.... you surprised an extraordinary moment
in my opinion the most important is the eye which knows how and what to see....
