The gerund titles are for the people with minumum brain, so we let that "melting" aside. We already have 2646438 "lookings" 2938723 "waitings" etc, etc that want to suggest contemplation and deep thinking in a hurry. Forget that.

"The origin of water" sounds much better. It could be used very well if the image had to do with water as a main protagonist. But it is that special shape and this is not only water - it is what I perceive of water. It could also be a tower or a snow dog like on the other image.

Strange! Most people keep on telling me about "feelings" and "emotions" of photography. And then... when it comes to naming what they see with ooohhh so many feelings, they tell me the same and the same and the same over and over again. Like that "melting" for example. It is like not being able to even articulate what the heck is so special about some subject. But this is of course the reason why there are millions of completely useless text lines by all "emotioners", and only just a few real poems, ey?

Cheers!

Nick

Hmmm... so let's say, you find the title not OK but you also don't know what could be better?

To me its good as it is, anyway, but I am curious to know what you would name it.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot again, Saad!

Well, from the point of view of exact depiction it was indeed my best of yesterday's posts.

About the title, I find it good as it is. Why do you think that it is not as suitable? And what would you think is more suitable here?

Cheers!

Yes, exactly Visar! ICE and the similarity to the head of the Alien. You know, it was "Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani, now it is "Travelling with the Alien" by Nick Karagiaouroglani. ;-)

Seriously now, thanks a lot for the detailed comment and for the ideas! I can see exactly what you mean regarding composition, and I think it could really improve it a lot. As I remember that fountain in the town it must be easy to accomplish what you say, since it stands free of all obstacles. So, as the winter arrives, I'll have (hopefully) a good possibility to try it once more.

Cheers and thanks a lot!

Hi Nick,I find this post is the best of todays posts, regarding the focus, sharpness, details ,and lighting, the only thing that I most friendly suggesting,is to look for a more suitable title that adds to the shot,my best,
Saad.

ICE eh, Nick!?

the details seem to be very sharp, thus the focus is very accurrate and it involves a wide range of the components- so are the light conditions, which create a very nice contrast of the white of the ice agains the green/ grey background.
as for the composition i do not find it as 'accurrate', i think the setting of these elements is very hard. it is hard as the both bars go paralel and they need a balance, and in addition they are covered with ice, whcih stratches in a free form- under such conditions i guess we should be very careful as a minor detail can add much, or fail much- so, probably i would have tried it a bit more diagonal, say having the 'train' depart from the top left corner- or end up in the 1/3 of the the bottom in the right~

cheers,
v.
