I was trying to develop the sense of bleak desperation that is so fundamental to Scottish history, especially Skye. I wanted to establish a feeling of longing by keeping the mist misty and the haze hazy. I don't think I really got what I wanted. There are a lot of pictures waiting to be taken at Armadale.
I know exactly where you took this picture from and I almost took it myself but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Using to window to frame the scene was a natural thing to do but in doing so, I feel you have diminished the viewer's sense of the grandness of the landscape. Armadale is a cool place to go though.
I'm not very sure about the green leaves. If possible I would have avoided them, or I would have shown just a little bit more of them. Now they're just hanging on the edge, barely visible. A polarizer may have reduced the haze also. I think it's a very nice picture however, especially the composition. Total absence of detail in the bars reduce them to a graphic element. Just as if you're standing in a dark jail ;) I wonder how it would have looked if some light fell on the inside of the bars, revealing their shape slightly.
