A great portrait, Joe! Light fades as it vanishes to the left...very natural.
Sounds like a excellent place to hold a club meeting, hope you had roll call first thing!!!!

Hi Annemette,
Would it be a terribly boring world if we all saw things exactly the same?
I am always interested in how other people view my images and welcome all comments. It is critical to my growth as a photographer. Your images are very original and artistic. I value your input and comments. Thanks very much.

Have a great day,
Joe

Thanks very much Jan for the detailed response. I will check out the Neat Image update. I shoot in RAW and jpg. There was more detail in the dark area but I wanted to keep the contrast rather high for effect.

Regards
Joe

Dear Joe
Yes, isn´t it funny how different we all look upon photography and art in general?! I like the attached version much better as I find it more intriguing with such a portrait only showing half of the face. I see the same on my monitor as you do. I just prefer a darker version:-)
Take care
Annemette

Joe -- NEAT Image is a life saver; you would never know that this was ISO 3200 other than the obvious low light appearance. (PS: I think there is a free update out there for Neat Image; I loaded the update last weekend). Excellent portrait and I am partial to pubs and low light shots. Very well done. Good character shot.
If you shot this in RAW format there may be a little more detail hidden in the darlk portions; you never know unless you look as RAW gives you about a three stop tolerance.
--Best to you, Jan

Thanks very much Annemette for your comments. I was wondering if there was a bit too much contrast but you would like to see even more. Interesting. As I said to Biljana, everyone sees the image differently depending upon how their monitor is setup. On my monitor, everything but the left side of his face is very faint and dark. You can barely see more than some highlights around his ear and cheek and a bit of a glint in his right eye. Is that what you are seeing?
Do you prefer this version?

Joe

I enjoy the light in this image litting up half of your friend´s face. By the looks of him, it really seems like you´re in a pub and have been there for some time;-)I would have prefered the dark side to be even darker but otherwise a good portrait.
All the best
Annemette

Thanks very much Biljana. On your monitor can you faintly see his ear on the left and a bit of his shirt in the right? The problem with this digital medium is everyone sees things slightly different. This was my intent.
