Cool shot, and I really like just the one bit of color from the redwing blackbird. Well seen, and very well realized.

Very nice Joe!
Red winged black birds if I'm not mistaken.
I think the compositon works very well with the way you have captured the one bird with its wings spread.
Nice work!

I dissagree with the cropping issue here. I think that the birds in the trees look pretty one demensional and some of them inside and outside of the crop works to make them & the tree more of the background. The one bird with the red coming in to land on the branch adds a 3 dimensional aspect to the photo, and gives it great character. It looks as if the bird is coming in to land on a painting

Excellent silhouetting, Joe, and I like the way you've retained the one bird's "epaulettes"!

Thanks very much Paul for your feedback. I'm glad you noticed the flash of red, I feel that is an important element in the image, I also I like the bird that is squawking in the upper left. These birds were very noisy. You have a good point regarding the crop, I think I will see if it is possible.
All the best,
Joe

A nice abstract piece of work. The flash of red is great, and makes it stand out from being a mono work. In my opinion a slightly different crop somewhere so non of the birds are cut in half may make this work better.
