Thanks, Anson.
If you'll start back at the beginning of my portfolio, there's a lot more landscape/abstract. I started shooting models about 18 months ago, and as you can tell, it's been my recent passion.

Breathtaking, Paul. I had to tear myself away from your great portfolio to make it this far. Anson

I sure don't Paul. I have one for my Canon AE-1 but have not got anything yet from my digital. I have seen a couple but was looking for something a little better than what I found. I would think they prob dont make them without having to wrap that band around the whole camera unless I go with the remote one which is what I may end up doing.....What one do you use?
Thanks Paul

Paul

Any tripod, even the cheapest, can hold your camera steady, but do you have a shutter release cable? if not, your finger pressing the shutter is STILL shaking the camera.

Yes that is very true Paul and I have had others with the 20D tell me the same thing. I also know that the 350D is as good if not really better than the 70D by nikkon its just. Well I wish I could show you some of the photos I shot the other day and get your thoughts on why you thought they might be turnning out as they are.

I do know a lot must have to do with the lens I have. Plus the tripod that I use can't be all that good......Damn walmart special. lol
Im going to have to put the money into a better len before I really judge Im sure! I was thinking about one of the long lens that tamron has. They have a couple pretty good ones under the 1000 dallor rang....Any thoughts on that?
What are you using for yours Paul. I know you dont do a lot of wildlife. but, Im sure you have something that reaches out there like with this shot here.....
Thanks for all your help Paul. It much appreciated!!!

Paul

Oh, and yes, your Canon 350 has the same CMOS sensor and most of the same electronics (and thus the same noise profile) as my 20D. Don't sell your camera short, Paul.

Paul Lara Paul Lara   {K:88111} 9/17/2006
Yes, Paul, I shot with a high ISO to avoid lens blur and to be able to maximize my depth of field (even though shooting at infinity focus, I guess it's already a max DOF).

I don't fear high ISO shots when I need to, because I can go into Neat Image and remove enough noise so it's not a distraction, but it doesn't muddy up the details or edges. www.neatimage.com has a free demo version you can use forever. I was so pleased with their product I sprung for the $50 Home + version.

WOW Paul! Such beautiful and great depth captured here! Great work. You must have run this
through a noise program of some kind, yes?
At that ISO the 20d is pretty awsome! Man no way can my camera shoot that high. I can't even get mine near 500th of a sec at 1600! lol
Great capture Paul!!

Bravo

Paul

Very nicely capture. The layering of different hues of grey sets this off nicely.

nothing better than photographing early morning mist. I like the slight abstract feel it has. Nicely done Paul

hi,have always wanted to shoot one of these hazy layered mountain shots, but from a land POV because i don't do early a.m. flights...i would only suggest cropping a bit less than a 1/3 from the bottom and maybe boost the sat on weak setting
good one,brat! ;>
regards,GG

On this morning, I had a flight home I had to catch, which meant leaving my hotel room at 4 am for the airport.

Trust me, Mark, I would much rather start my day at the crack of noon.

Just simply beautiful Paul, looks "other worldly' and mysterious. With that said i must agree with j esford, I too have circadian rhythms that really don't allow me to do much Photo Shooting until around the magical hour of about 2 pm (14:00) pretty much peaking at around 8 to 10 pm (20:00-22:00). Sadly a handicap I've had to struggle with for SO many years...... We all have our crosses to carry.....

Very nice landscape photo Paul! The layers and the tones work into a very serene image! I would have cropped 1/3 of the bottom though (darker areas). But definitely a Great shot!

I'm always jealous when I see these beautiful early morning shots Paul. Unfortunately my circadian rhythms don't allow me the luxury of functioning much before noon! If I could hope to see a vision such as this though, perhaps I'd sacrifice a week's worth of good sleep.....nah. Thanks for sharing such a well taken, perfectly lit shot such as this. Good job. -john
