If I hadn't read all the critiques through, I would have missed the 10 sec exp and thought it a sunset too. Very clever work indeed. Congrats for the SC! Nice to see you on the front page too...:)
Cheers Rina.

Hi Dave, very good combination of hues and silhouettes. I like the surprising element and the wondering this image achieves by the seemingly "incorrect" placement of the various objects. Only after a while the actual 2D feel of the image becomes apparent. Very nice touch!
Cheers,
Hugo

hahaha...upon closer inspection,i began to see what appeared to be where it continued and figured it was only a portion of the artwork...ok,now i understand the 10 secs...the BG is so vibrant that i thought it was an early sunset shot...how far is Grant from Santa Fe/Madrid area?...i was there about 5 yrs. ago for a too brief visit and want to return in the near future...

Hi Gayle, missed you and your critiques. Yes, this is a night shot, with varying times. I thought the 10 second was the best for lighting. This is ironwokr, a montage of the history of Grants, where I've just moved to.
The cropping hides the framework of the montage panels. The various images are all tied in together in order to support the various composites. So this cowboy's butt is actually connected to a vertical frame. I didn't crop no butt!
This is also viewed from the back of the montage. If you look close, you can make out the lines of passing car lights. The front is painted, it didn't make for a good photo of what I was after, a simple silhouette.
Best,
Dave

hi there, that is some cool ironwork (?)...was this a night shot?...trying to understand why the 10 sec. exp. for this shot...wonderful BG colors and dof,Dave...only prob i have with the shot is that it seems a bit tightly framed (cowboy booty against the edge on left as viewed);> regards, gayle
