Neat formation. I never made it to Red Rock when I lived in SoCal. Now I'll have to think about putting it on the agenda for the next time I'm out that way.

Ann, The contrasting colors of layers of rock are unique, your friend is waving hello, tell her I say hello too!! :-))
Thanks for comment on my flower Ann.

Thank you for taking the time to view and comment here Mireille. Funny you should mention "the big red rock" If you look at my portfolio you will see the big red rock is another image I have just posted and it really IS a big red rock even bigger than this rock. I was saving the title you suggested for just that photo.
Your portfolio is outstanding. I will certainly be going back there to view more of your images and to post more comments.
Thank you again and Cheers - Ann :)

What a stunning capture of rock formations! Indeed, the best way to show the rock size was to leave your friend in the image. I may have a preference for this one ("the big red rock") because of the horizontal and vertical lines adding some more power. Anyway, you have an outstanding portfolio! Thanks for your nice comment...I love the elephant too...he's so cute. Regards, Mireille

Magnificent lines, colours and texture!!! It reminds me of the dress worn by Roman matrons in Caesar's Time - some kind of wide colourful ribbons bound against the chest, waist and hips. It's amazing what nature can create!!!! Gabriela

Hi Ann! Very impressive & interesting rocks ~ excellent textures and very beautiful colours against that blue sky. A good decision to include your friend here; besides, the colours of her clothes are just perfect for this shot :)

Wonderful textures and colours Ann, I agree with keeping the figure in the composition, it shows the size. I think poor old Fred Flinstone's house is leaning slightly LOL Margaret

A wonderful and well composed image, Ann. You've shown the geological layers, beautifully. A work of art, from aeons of sediment. Great and vivid, 'Canon' colours. The innclusion of your friend, adds both interest and scale. Excellent.

Congratulations, Ann for the front page critique, good job!!! This rock looks like a giant with a huge grin, ready to crush your friend. Pretty menacing looking! Plus the mystery of what's around that corner! From giant rocks to tiny mushrooms... a lady of extremes!

usually i'd have said that if you didn't shot your friend too the photo would have been better (not because of her, i prefer unmanned visuals!)... this time i think that she adds a nice touch, so little and blue...

What fantastic textures revealed in the rock and the colours of the layers are breathtaking. Now I know Australia has a lot of red rock but your friend must have been blown away with this. Great result Ann and your friend's presence enhances the perspective. This is a whole lot of rock and a wonderful composition....Best wishes..Ray
