About 1 of the RAW images that finally yielded the results I was searching for.
4 dunes in a row here and in each one the tone of sand appeared of different colour. I was particularly attrracted to the soft lines.

Naomi, yes, you are so correct. At first sight they appear somewhat sterile. But, then the fun begins :) Thanks for your kind comments, R

Cessy, thanks for seeing my work. Yes, it was a blast taking these shots. I bit challenging as there was a huge fence so I was in all kind of weird positions :) The price was sand everywhere, though, no matter, well worth it :) :) :) -- R.

Wonderful colors and lines, Rafael. I love shooting sand and dunes; they appear barren, but there really is so much to look at. Very well done. -- naomi

Ehy Rafael, I understand you had no choice.... I do appreciate your photo a lot, it is really a great one, and still any DOF issues, when feasible, are always personal.
I'll check the other one of yours....

Tack sa mycket Jeanette :) the soft focus on the extremes was a bit of a necessity to balance the shot (at leas in my mind) I saw sets of 2's, two dunes in the same tones interpolated. The front would not come into focus due to the proximity, so, I made a set, 2 sharp and 2 soft. I'm glad you liked the effect, I know you like these colours :):) -- RD

Thanks for your comment Maurizio. I have a shot with all the background on focus too. The foreground was nearly impossible. I was using a very long zoom lense, the fore dune was too close to come into focus. So I opted to keep only the middle in focus, as to have a set, fore and background soft and the middle in focus. But I totally understand your comment. Thanks for taking the time. I appreciate it. --R

Wow Kelly, those are very cool words. The ratings is not big deal to me, as it really is subjective and about the things that reach to us. I guess in life there's always a score keeper but such is life. Having read your comments, well, that's just too nice and coming from an artist like yourself, it's better than any rating. You rock Kel!!! --R.

fantastic shot! I love the patterns that dunes create, this was excellent. The only thing I'd have preferred would have been some more depth of field in order to get more sharpness in the foreground...

Regards

WOW - a fav. I like how you composed and filled the whole image by sand dunes, waving like a yellow sea - amazing. There?s no escape from here :) I also like your a little unusual dof...to have the sharpness in the middle and let the rest be unsharp.

Nicely divided texture in parts.

Joe Johnson   {K:8529} 5/2/2005
That's definitely a shot. A shame you couldn't even out the areas, maybe with a camera on a pole and remote, I don't know. You can't crop from the top and maintain a nice aspect, but you can't lose from the sides or you lose too much to show patterns. And depth of field hurt in the foreground. But this is definitely a place to get lots of angles, high and low, and at different angles leading in and away. Very well done.
