Back to offer congratulations on the BIP. This is one excellent image and deserves the award alright. The recognition is sweet even if you are like me, shy about compliments, I have never been able to take one graciously without making a joke. (I have to say I did do a little whoop whoop dance when I got mine, of course when no one was around to see me act like a fool :-).)

lol don't feel weird. I just got an email , maybe yesterday on this one. I'm always happy to get any type recognition, but I'm humble... shy in many ways. Never have been one to take compliments well, believe it or not lol.. Thanks for all the congrats.

Wonderful image, Rebecca! I can just see some old guy sitting there whittling as he dries his boots by the stove - a big ol' wad of 'Red Man' in his cheek, getting about half of it in the spitoon... (OK - sorry for *that* image! :) It is a shame about the glare on the window, but the selective desaturation you chose is excellent!

Yep...I cannot speak for all the others....I'll sit in the chair, and you can sit on me lap....and we'll chat away the night in the red glow of softly dying embers.....very nice shot, Becc.....

Very nice capture, it looks like if it came out of one of the old west classical movies, i like it except the smook in the lower right corner, regards,

You're not crazy Neal .. lol. I desaturated but not all the way. I left a hint of color. I'm going back one day with a lens hood and a polarizer and see if I can get a shot without the glare. There's double windows, and both are dirty, so I don't think I can do anything about that.

A great shot ...... almost perfect. Yes, I find the bottom left corner distracting too. Nevertheless an interesting experiment.

Is this really black and white? I would swear I see bluish and tanish tones in the stove. And the spitoon? Doesn't that have a slightly brassy color? I must be going crazy. Or your image is so powerful as to project colors even if there are none there.

I love the glow on the old stove, the sheen on the metal chair, the rough hewn texture of the wall, the old corner curled poster, even the dirty glass window giving that haze in the corner. It adds to the vintage look. Perfect!

I know it's didtracting. I shot this through a dirty window, with the sun behind me, no polarizer, nothing to hide the reflection lol..I tried to burn it in, clone it out, crop it off, you name it lol.. But I like the overall picture.. so I went ahead and poated it anyway. Maybe I'll go back and try to retake. Thanks
