Absolutely beautiful work, Karen. There's so much in your portfolio that warrants praise, I scarcely know where to begin. This is one of my favorites of the bunch (along with Splendor in the Grass and Silk and Lace in color). I love how the little one reaches up to touch her toes... it's such a joyful gesture.
I remember spending long afternoons carrying St.Clair (now age 8, daughter of a close friend, and my favorite subject to photograph) on my shoulders, and she would sit up there making up little songs and playing with my hair while we wandered along in no real hurry to arrive anywhere.
You've captured that spirit of youth and wonder so well here, amidst the bountiful field of wildflowers. "Splendor" is a good word for what I see in your fine portraits; maybe it is what inspires you to take them.
Well, here's to the many fields of dreams in Maryland, and the songs of the crickets and cicadas that spring from them this time of year.

This is a wonderful, candid, classic portrait, Karen. Beautiful tones, terrific composition, and the position of the little one with the hat is priceless. I feel that your main subjects could use just a minor bit of sharpening, but I bet that is just due to compressing the image for web display. This is first rate!!!

Now you know this is one of my very favorit pictures of yours .... It has a timeless feel to it . Its the picture I wish I had taken first ...but will have to settle for a cheep copy of ....thanks for listing about the crop :) and as you know this is going in my favorits ..
