About Once again I wondered how the people might live in that house. It seemed quite isolated to me. Anyway, any comments would be very welcome.

Yes, exactly this I mean too, Andre. One may perhaps "over-romantificate" that kind of life when only thinking of it. But to live really this way is something different and as the time passes by it doesn't feel as "ideal" anymore.

Cheers!

Nick

Hi Nick,
I understand exactly.
Sometimes I feel like I might like to be isolated, living alone or with just a few people around. But, after a few days of peace and quiet. I'm ready for the city again. :)

Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Dan!

I think, as already said, that all winter elements were "enhanced" by the grad filter I had to use, i.e. the window glass of the train. ;-) So, also the leafless tree.

Cheers!

Lovely shot Nick, there is something about that leafless tree that makes this shot great in my opinion. Great work Nick

Thanks once again, Andre! I can exactly see what you mean, and it makes much sense to me.

So your cottage is as isolated as this place, ey? Well, to go there for some days or weeks is great. One can relax, re-think about some things, take time and separate the necessary from much of that balast that we carry without really asking why. That's very good. In some way one finds back to the own self.

But the house on this image is a house where people live throughout the whole year. That must be very tiring after a long time. I can't even imagine to live for ever in such a place. When I was living in Beckenried I thought that it would be perfect. It was way not as isolated as this house on the image, but still a rather small village far away from anything. Well, in less than a year I just couldn't stand that any more. No libraries, no theaters, no museums, no concerts, the whole time talking about the cows and the grass and the weather, or the weather and the grass and the cows... The horizon was so asphyxiating. It was a strange time which showed me that the "idealization" with which many people consider this kind of living is not the same as living there in reality. This is no kind of "peace and beauty" - it's rather a mental prison without walls for me. But I must also add that I am certainly not the type of human being for living this way.

Cheers!

A very nicely composed, cold winter morning/evening scene, Nick!

This is the one I mean Nick. The space on the right side of the main tree seems to work for me.
This kind of scene is very typical of the area where our cottage is away from the water on the farm roads. We are close to the water, so it is much different. We are just packing to go up for a few days, so I won't be around till next weekend. Have a good week!
