Sorry I missed this day in the park. I dont get to Alphabet City so much anymore. Neat shot, would make a great T shirt.

Really nice composition. Unique perspective and dramatic environment. the faceless characters give the viewer a lot of blanks to fill in with their imagination.

Stylistically this is very cinematic. a light special on his face with that old working Irish hard life look. Glad you wore him down to let you take this. Those steel blue eyes really pull me in. especially the droopy one which shows its sign of age.
truely beautiful work.
take care

I really like the work you are doing here. The use of single source lighting without getting too hot on their face. Its also from an unnatural angel which makes it unique almost eeire.
Im glad these are in color too. there is a place for BW but I think the present day reality of it would be lost if it werent in color.
We had a Jazz gig in Detriot a couple years ago. neat town. on its way back I hope. Stayed at the Inn on Ferry St. I got a great photo of the old Madison Theate.
Thanks very much for your comments on my work. much appreciated.
take care

I have focused on your page tonight. You have such a lovely traditional European style. Not to say that your point of view is unoriginal. I am a New Yorker and my work will always be dominated by those visual influences whether I like it or not. However your tones and contrast ratio belong to a certain school of thought. Your subjects, particularly this image have uniqueness to them. They are real people exposed in the raw for a brief moment. Thanks for sharing your work.

I so much like all your work. Ive been looking at it for awhile. you seamlessly transfer from BW to color and use them at the appropriate times. I love the 2 distinct emothions from these girls. A play on the comedy/tragedy faces of theater.

Ive looked at this for awhile.Im glad you took this in color. the contrast is too low for BW...the greys would have had equal value. love the muted tones of yellow-green and blue-green.theres a lot gong on. the water looks cold and refreshing. I spend a lot of time in New Hampshire and the Pacific NW. has that same feel.
sincerely

OK so ive been thinking about this image. The color composition is great. Cant go wrong with pink and blue. I would lose the background. The fore and middleground is your sharpest and most interesting. the integrity of the image gets lost up there pulling the focus away.
also....what did it sound like?

love the overall composition and contrast. What really makes this image successful are the people themselves. Its a particular place and time supported by the clothes the styles and the newspaper. a "slice of life" as it were. I also wonder what are their relationships to each other. The man in the background just adds more depth to this as well. beautiful shot.

What a great image; the orientation is what makes it unique, dynamic angles.

So fellow Manhattanite I see we are attracted to similar locales. I have the same image but from the opposite vantage point. Its a hard shot to get. Directional light never quite gets in there the right way. Try sunrise or sunset. I do agree with the coment about the SUVs and bus not being there. Thanx for your comment on my first image.
