Dear Ken, My first SLR was an Asahi Pentax that served me well for quite some years. Nevertheless I now prefer cameras with high zoom ratio to those with exchangeable lenses, because I think that by the time I've changed lenses the situation has changed and I've lost an "important" photo. I also think that very large number of pixels is of no importance unless you intend to print huge pictures. These are, of course, no recommendations, just my opinions. Thank you for adding me to your friend's list. I presume that despite being very busy, or rather because of it, you are happy with your new job, so I wish you good luck with it. It seems to be important. Best regards, Rafi
Hi Rafi. Yes, it has been a long time. I've been busier taking photos but spending less time posting; I'll have to change that I suppose, but right now I'm also engaged in some day job related activities; chairing a technical committee to advise the State of Ca on lab issues and serving on a national group to draft a protocol for trace level measurement criteria. The latter has kept me very busy with as many as three meetings a week [my boss asks when I will do "real" work for the lab :-)] and even some weekends (writing a "white paper"). It's a lot of work, but I am thoroughly engaged in the process and am hopeful all of the group's work will be productive once we have completed our task. I'm also looking for a new camera to replace my Olympus, possibly the Pentax DS. while the Canon 20D may be a superior camera, there are features of the Pentax that appeal to me and I want to replace my point-and-shoot with an SLR. Best to you, Ken
I have not heard from you for a very long time, Ken. Despite this, it seems that our memories are similar. Just as my "Memories from Paris 29" reminded you of an incident of over 20 years ago, so did your photo of handling the cactus fruit remind me of an incident even further back, when a woman I was with at that time grasped a cactus fruit barehanded before I was able to warn her of the consequences... Thank you, my friend, for commenting on the photo just mentioned and leaving yours beside it. Politeness does pay. Best regards, rafi
