Cary, the 75-300 is not macro, but it is a Canon. We are very pleased with all our lenses. We have a wedding photo business and use medium format Bronica equipment. However, we actually started to shoot candids at weddings with the 10D and the Canon 17-40 lense and we shoot during the ceremony with the Canon 70-200 2.8L. Hope this info is helpful. ~~ Debby

Hi Debby, thanks for your reply about the lense. I ordered a 10D and will need some lenses. I'm a little leary of trying to get an "all purpose" lense like the 70-300, my past experience has told me that the image won't be as good say, as the 70-200, what do you think? I also want a 100 or 105 macro and a wide angle. Is the 70-300 a Canon and is it macro?

Cary, I love that lense and would highly recommend it! The image stabilizer feature comes in very handy and I really like the depth of field. Are you considering the purchase? We also have a Canon 28 - 70 2.8L macro; a 70 - 200 2.8L; a 2XL convertor; a 50 mm 1.4; a 17 -40 F4L and a 25 mm extension tube. We're still considering more. We really like the Canon, as you can tell. My husband is the real expert with all these different lenses, but I'm learning. Thanks for your comments.

Such perfect depth of field. I love how sharp his antennae are and how wonderfully the flower is separated from the background.
