Alan: We have four species hanging about usually in the summer on our deck. No Ruby Throated, however. This year there were very few which is good and meant they found food elsewhere. We did miss them. I find that it's difficult to get the wings this sharp at less than 1/4000 but maybe it's the thin air up here at 9100 feet of elevation. The fact that you got close enough to use the 28-135 is testament to your determination. Good work.

This is a nice photo indeed. I've never even seen one of these birds let alone photograph one. Beautiful composition here and your portfolio overall is quite colourful.

Yes, Ill have to use a different lens though. this was taken at 1600 which Id rather avoid, and the best I could squeek out was the 2000 at 5.6. I might try a 50mm 1.8 and do as you suggest.Thanks.

Wonderful clarity and detail! Love the colors. thanks for commenting on my photo, The Landing. Saintz Saintz2 was kind enough to get rid of the telephone lines and repost the image without them, thanks to your suggestion. (I LOVE this site!) Your portfolio is a real treasure trove of delightful photos! so many wonderful images and not emough time to comment on them all. Blessings to you and yours.
