About This is one of three Black Widow spiders found when opening the door to our boathouse during the last trip to Possum Kingdom Lake in NW Texas. This is pretty common, and there's usually a scorpion or two hiding under the boat cover somewhere too. I wasn't exactly scared of her, but it did give me a case of the heebie jeebies having to get so close. Plus, there were about a gazillion beetles and crickets crunching under my feet as my husband MADE me help him uncover the boat. Major heebies situation all around.

Hey, neighbor! Got lots of pix of PK at my web site. Just go to the Galleries page and scroll down to the bottom for more PK than you can stand... :) Here's a shot of our "back yard" at The Ranch on PK (No house yet.)

Ha! What is it about that damn starfish?! I just don't get it. LOL If anyone wants to see it, go to my web site www.pipershots.com.

Thanks for the kind words, Michaelle. I know what you mean about the macro lenses. Even 105mm wasn't far enough away for me, so I pretty much winged it by using AF, holding the camera out in front of me with outstretched arms and praying. : )

Piper,
It's great to see your pictures here on usefilm, welcome! BTW, I agree with you, these are creepy little creatures that we have to deal with in NC alot, too... hat's off to you for getting close enough to take the shot (noticed it was a 105mm macro lens and not a 50mm, haha). Look forward to seeing more of you images (hint... could you post the starfish).

Michaelle
