About This photo was taken looking up the interior of the spiral staircase at Bodie Island Lighthouse on North Carolina's Outer Banks. The interior of the lighthouse is only rarely open to visitors and I was fortunate to have this opportunity to photograph inside. I wanted to convey what for the keepers at night was probably a seemingly endless staircase to climb to the lantern room... perhaps even Escher-like... This image was shot on color slide film and desaturated to B&w in PS. I was also fortunate to have this image take a second in the Sept 2001 monthly photo contest in Photographic Magazine. Comments are always welcome.

This surely is a winner. Thanks for uploading. I like the geometric patterns and the wonderfull silky blacks and whitest of white contrasts.

This is very nice. Great composition - love the way the semi circles inside another. Great stuff.

excellent use of conversion to B&W Gary....I think it highlights the details that need to be seen....

Very nice composition and DOF. I think the high contrast adds to the image.

I agrre with Bart on a very strong composition, this is a uniques perspective. I'm not bothered by the lack of gray details. I think the higher contrast adds to the almost abstract feel.

Very nice. Composition is very strong. My only wish would be for more gray details in the darker areas - if that were possible. I know it's a high contrast scene, so maybe not, and this might have been your intent also.
