Thanks a lot for the info on your method, Justin!
More than just taking details on the shadows you also supplied some kind of "airy" look of the objects! Very interesting!
As about re-submitting, I also think that it is neither necessary nor really useful while we have the possibility of attaching images. I find it much more "comfortable" too, when all suggestions and ideas appear as "addenda" to a single image rather than being distributed over many different pages.
BTW, as Andre Dennis has said in the past, one thing that many good images have in common is that ther are so many different crops for them and still they are great. Each crop different from all the others but each obe good on its own way. I think that this apllies very well here too.
Cheers!
Nick

nick:
others also have suggested a crop of the upper portions, and i'm convinced there's merit in the suggestion. still, i don't feel comfortable re-submitting this picture after so many have commented and/or viewed it. if i could preserve the comments, i would change the crop.
and yes, your crop would be good.
using a digital raw format, i tend to over expose a third, to capture shadow detail. this photo is as it was out of camera, with only the most limited of post-processing, to bring forth the contrast, primarily.
thanks for commenting, justin.

Unexpected and a class of its own, Justin! The exposure balance brought something else in this composition! Much like the translucent matter out of which Giger's Alien seems to be, but in your case... matter seems to consist of light. Pue light! The forms that are materializing in front of my eyes are "real" and yet so "airy" and unreal... I wonder how you did that! Controlled overexposure??
And one question that I have to pose here: could you imagine a tighter crop or does it eliminate too much of the otherwise visible depth? (Attachment.)

It would be interesting to see it without the reflections, but I think they add a lot to the arty effect.:)

You're welcome! Why do you want to do that? Just redo it with a new crop on your original and resubmit the new version. Leave the first version or delete it later as you wish. Mitra

This is a really interesting abstract and I love the color (s). However, I do agree with Shirley on the crop suggestion. Regards, Mitra

Shirley, thanks for the suggestion, I will give it some thought. I was most attracted to the coloration and gradation in this photo, which was captured RAW, I did nothing else beyond sharpening for the web. I may go back and recapture this with a polarizer, to remove the reflected graphic arcs...What do you think? Despite the flaws, I love this photo.
Regards, Justin

This is gorgeous, Justin, and could go in the Glass Project. Would be highly improved by cropping off most of the top, though.:)
