Pleasant winter image, Dave! Others have spoken about extracting more tonal dynamics from the snow. Since the lighting is so flat, this is difficult to do in a convincing fashion. Eb

I like the way the fence with the snow just trail off into the distance, It gives real depth. Del.

Hi Dave, I haven't been around for a while, and I just saw this one. I was reading through the comments and I'm kind of glad that Joe Brown said it first. I agree with him completely about this one needing more detail in the snow. Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the only people here that will offer suggestions like that. Glad to see that you accepted his version. Andre

This really is a beautiful image. The almost covered benches give us an idea that it'll look entirely different in a few months, and maybe just as photogenic in a different way. Regards, Gary

Here you got the freezing factor in such a realistic way, Dave! I consider the fine details and contrasts of the snow and the branches at the depth to be some of the most perfectly captured I have even seen. Only the wooden fence seems to me a bit overexposed, as it only partially conveys the look of wood, but I guess that it had to be this way, or otherwise the background with the branches and snow would be considerably underexposed.
The strong perspective of the fence, as it extends to the depth, together with your great DoF, make the image more than worth to look at for a long time.
BTW, what could that be on a vertical image? Could the inclusion of the top of the trees add something too?
Nick

Great photo Dave. Although the stone wall is very nice, i think this old wooden fence had character as well.

Very nice winter scene Dave, very well composed. I find there is a lack of detail in the snow. Hope you don't mind but I was curious and I've played with your shot a bit. I think I was able to bring out more detail in the road and snow banks without impacting too much on the dynamic range of the original B&W. What do you think. Joe

Excellent shot, the fence gives depth here, gives perspective and 'force' the eyes of the watchers to go INTO the forest, nice one Dave! be well!
