I find the hikers a bit distracting. I think the plants would provide a reference to scale for viewers. They may even help make the dunes appear to be larger in scale. You have wonderful tones in the sand. However you composition is not very exciting in this shot. I think a shot without the hikers would make for a more interesting composition and allow your eye to wander around more instead of being drawn to the areas of high contrast created by the people.
