Very nice photograph of this young person. I like the expression on his face. Giving the impression that he is setting off somewhere to complete the task at hand. I also I like all the earth tones seen here...Brian

The bushmen or San people live the way they have lived for 50,000 years, at least some of them do. The grass hut is for sleeping in bad weather, they most often sleep outisde. The children stay with the adults from the time they can walk, working along side as best they can. The boys hunt with the men and learn tracking skills which are the best in the world. This boy spent 3-4 hours with his father and uncle making a rope out of tree bark and then using the rope to make a snare for game. He helped them and never complained or seemed bored the whole time. Both men and women usually wear only a skin around their waist as it is very hot most of the time. In the photo you can see a bow and quiver of arrows ( the cylinder) and also an ostrich egg hanging up used as a container for water.

Lovely image, I am fascinated by people of other lands. I am a child care worker and our preshoolers get great joy from seeing images like this of people, cultures and countries other than our own. This is a particularly rich image in that it shows clothing, activities, dwellings?? jewellery. Do you have any more information to add about this child for me to pass on to my children? Thank you for this beautiful portrait. Cathy
