Yes, the woman has turned her head away in conversation with her mother, not to avoid the camera. Technically this is a weak photo but does show the three generations and that is why I included it.

its a great documentary photo philip. a shame you didnt get all three of the ladies in a bit tighter but thats the way it is sometimes when we look back on some missed chances. still, you managed to convey an interesting part of the daily life of these namibians.
regarding the comment by our photographic colleague kambiz, i think its safe to say that if the woman didnt want her photo taken, that would have been made clear by the individual concerned at the outset. in cases like this, these people are usually pleased to be the subject of a photo.
good to see others that are interested in the lives of those living in different societies.
warmest regards ~ james

You think wrong. I spent six hours with these people and took dozens of pictures, had some good laughs looking at each other in the camera playback screen. I was invited to take all their pictures. We shot arrows with the men, went on a hunt and did some dancing around the fire at night. I don't take people's pictures without their permission anywhere. I am sure your comments were meant well but you have not the slightest idea what you are talking about.

I think that young pergnant lady did not want you to take her image. It is a better idea, to always ask permissiom from the point of etiquette even in a not very devloped country like Namibia. I bet you, she could sue you if she was a Western Lady and you took her image WITHOUT her permission. So next time, simply ask. Is it too much to ask. God Bless
p.s.-I am member of a group that we oppose sex tourism in other countries.

Interesting characters, you are lucky to travel to such places. As a photo this is rather distracting, as the point of focus does not seem to be on any of the three ladies. The crop is too tight, I would try to have just the too girls on the right, but then you would loose the "three" generations.
