Thank you for the poem-- The dry raspy tongue laps at pools of milky gold; overlapped by the dark sky sprinkled with bottle stars. The scent is in the air of perfumed musk but to no avail the beast sniffs its prey. --Jan

Bulbs in the night or stars in the abyss. The yellowness of the eyes portray a glow of gold contrasted by pupils like a planet in the orbit of a black galaxy. Does the cat think? does it have a soul? Is it pensive or frightentened until every thing degenerates to a brilliant artistic and phographic adventurism salivating for definition. by Arrey Mbongaya Ivo oldboyarret@yahoo.com

Thanks for your kind comments, Meg. The only Photoshop work here is the coloring of the eyes (iris) and slight sharpening along with the crop. Roland has goofy eyes and often they do not track. -Best to you, Jan

I haven’t seen the first posting of this image so can’t comment on the difference. This is my kind of crop though, I have several of my own cats in this same fashion and my motto is…’Get close, and then get closer still’. As it’s apparently been well commented on before I don’t want to go on too much about the eyes, but it’s obvious there has been some Photoshop work done here. I do find it a little distracting that the eyes don’t match, i.e. they are not both looking at the same spot. That apart you did well, cats on the whole don’t tend to stay still when you point a camera at them so you did a fine job of catching the other details so well, especially as they are black and not so easy to deal with.

Annemette-- Thanks for viewing and commenting. Any you are so correct; started the same way and now am looking at learning to post process. As for Danish, no such luck. I am peasant stock of various Eastern European extractions. My parents spoke so many different languages that I am surprised they gave me a name that I can pronounce. --Regards, Jan

Wonderful hypnotizing catportrait. I like it so close-up. About editing I can tell you that when I began posting photos at UF six months ago or so, I only uploaded raw unedited photos because I felt that editing the photo afterwards was "cheating". Now I´ve fallen in love with all the wide range of possibilities, and I imagine you´ll go through the same proces:-) Best wishes, Annemette PS: I thought that you were Danish when seing you name.

Nice crop Jan, details are really good, it's somehow an old style photo, two Bright eyes in the middle of a dark texture which I like, the flash light in the pupils makes it a little distracting but still really nice shot, Mohammad
