Nice framing of the early rosebud with the two pistil shots. (An accidental pun! Sorrry. lol!) The shot on the left doesn't seem to have a sharp point, where the two others do, but that is SUCH a nitpick.

It's been so VERY hot here that I was moving in slow motion for this project . . . although it is admittedly the only thing I did that day . . . We finally bought air conditioners just in time (They can't be found to purchase anywhere now) and Woodland Hills at 119 degrees F was the highest recorded temperature EVER recorded there! There was actually a very light rain for a very short time . . . but it brought NO cooling with it. We've been told a couple more days and it will start to drop. Two small drops are on the stamens in the flower on the right. Marny's pics have more obvious rain I think.

Amazing Phillip . . . I worked long and hard on the blurry image project and shot, edited and uploaded these all on the same rainy --- absurdly hot Southern California Day!! And then score a FC and BiP on two!! Naturally, I'm grateful -

Thanks Robin . . . I myself, remain in awe of the way the bud in the middle came out . . . I have several versions of it . . . but the suprise came because this was handheld and I didn't really think it would be THAT clear . . . and yet, the bud is the MOST focused image! I may choose another alone to upload later.

Likely an accurate call about softness Klaas....the intricate Hibiscus stamen structure and the absudly shallow DOF made the whole a difficult shot to start with. The stamens actually have small white cilia (hair-like structures) coming from them (best observed on the right). I appreciate the call . . . It's a good one!

Thanks for looking and commenting! They are, indeed, all hibiscus blooms (well . . . one's a bud). Indeed, they are difficult to shoot (though you make it LOOK easy) and the 32mm extension tube really narrowed the DOF with the 105mm lens . . . Still, they make a good subject. The full size originals came out quite well (especially the bud) and I was glad to see that not much loss was incurred during the resize and upload. Again, thanks Ray!

A beautiful triptych my friend and again set in a wonderful presentation. Gorgeous richness in the tones, sharply defined centrepiece and superb dofs to all three shots.. Are they all hibiscus blooms Doyle....the two outer stamen shots look as if they are and they are so difficult to shoot dut to the multi elements in their construction.
