Quite true Sheila . . . about the toys and the fun!! Now she can shoot an eyebrow hair from across the street while I take the same shot and see the person, the roof, my shoes, Marny, and the stoplight down the street! LoL! :) I've gotten more pictures of my feet by accident with this lens than you can imagine!

Hey Dave! Yep . . . NEW TOY!! Marny wanted (Oooops, I mean NEEDED) a 200-500mm lens (clearly essential in L.A.--LoL!) so I negotiated the 10.5mm fisheye which has been on my wish list! Planning on San Francisco uses for it . . . :)
By the way, the island is Catalina!

Daddy got a new toy? I've been contemplating buying a fisheye as well. Maybe next week when I am in Dallas.
I like this shot, especially with the curvature of the beach. And the horizon, too. I forget what island that is even though my buddy has pointed it out many times.
Best wishes, Dave

Rina. Lovely Rina. Don't make me do a crop for you again. (You KNOW I can!) :)
I DID bump up the ISO and I was fighting that 180 degree view . . . bright on the far right and black on the left makes exposure a #%@$&!
I am enjoying getting to know my new fisheye (easy with the jokes there girl; I'm beginning to KNOW you)!
As to foreground . . . the biggest challenge is not to get my own feet or tripod legs in the shot. (Shoe Size = 13 American). Easier said than done, I can assure you. By the way, I cloned out the foreground clown juggling flaming torches from his unicycle for you . . . :)

You're right . . . it's a good lens for SOME shots. I wanted some use under my belt before heading off to San Francisco and so . . .
I have worked with so many shots from so many people to try to help and give good advice that I have NO problem with someone doing that for me. In fact, I'm grateful. I totally LOVE the changes. You're right that it doesn't really adhere to the time of day but I'm not so much a purist--just didn't consider the possibilities. The quality, to me, is more important and the tweaks you've made have improved the scene. Thanks very much!

Doyle, I'd have to agree with you, I'm always impressed by the effect of fisheye, particularly on seascapes. Nice work.
I see you've bumped the ISO up a bit, in this situation I'd be more inclined to use the same setting choices as your previous shots. The colours achieved are so much more magical imo. But nevertheless, the pastel hues here are still beautiful. Now, if only you'd cloned out the foreground distractions... hehehe, just joking my friend ;D
Excellent stuff.
Cheers Rina.

For some shots the fisheye distortion works great. This is definitely one of them. Doyle, I hope you dont mind but I tinkered with the contrast a little. It may not match the time of the day you took your shot but here it is.
Great work.
