This caught my eye for various reasons: the way the sand blends into the reflecting water, the rock silhouettes, the threatening sky. It all adds up to a beautiful image.

A beautiful seascape, Rina. You've done well to leave the pebbles/shells in the sand. The colors and tones are terrific. Steve

....good god Rina, your imagination is out of control!!....thanks, made me laugh, we cannot produce exciting work if these nuances are allowed to escape, I like words....'cheekier' and 'mounds' sit a little awkwardly together in this context, an awful pun intended?!.....quickly.....back to the critique, I wonder if that is the catalyst for multiple comments, they're a bit jagged for my liking! must away into the gums, the tall gums.......have fun, cheers, david.

Thanks for that David. You know what? I like the other one better too, even with the surfer. If I decide to print, I'll move him over first though :) I'm inclined to agree about the sand here, even more glaring when put it up against the previous.
But yeah, this place is magic. About an hours drive away from where I am in Auckland, along winding narrow roads over the Waitakares. Which are picturesque in themselves, but there's not many safe places to pull over. Kinda like the Pacific Hwy up near Taree? Only with glorious lush fern cover as opposed to tall gums...
On a cheekier note, could be all the comments stem from the subtle representation of 'twin mounds'...

.....well, I'm going to have a crack at this too, your'e a legend, all these comments, it's great......it is, this composition suits me, I like it but not as much as the first, think the sand color is a bit (just a bit) over done and the crop a bit tight, I have walked past a lot and something makes me come back......maybe it's the promise of a secret place over there in the rocks, a place for right now with no apparent past or future but then forever, dunno, youv'e done good ma'am, keep it up. cheers, david.

Cheers Joel. Yup, this is it. Lion's Rock is back over my right shoulder here. I did take a couple of shots (attached one for you). Too many folk still around for the [cough] surfing competition, making it all look a bit messy, so didn't try too hard. Will be making it a point to get back out there this weekend. Hopefully won't be as dark this time... less people maybe.
Thanks for dropping by. Always appreciate your thoughts :) Rina.

Rina,
Wonderful colors! Is this Piha Beach..where Lion's Rock is? I don't recognize the rock. *amazing surf!
I do like what you did with the sand color. It's pretty strong, but balanced nicely with the rest of the image. I also like very much the straight down composition. I feel like I'm standing there! ...and wish I were...
Very nice photo Rina!
cheers, -joel

local speaking guide may be avoiding it because he A: nearly drowned there. B: has had to hear over and over again the story told by his father of how he didn't call for help... at least I have. :) Apparently there is an idyllic lake in the bush there at Te Henga.

Yeah, lots of fine spray coming up from the breaks. All dreamy-like. Not sure if we've been to bethels. We've driven down along Muriwai, so chances are good but just didn't know. Bad local speaking guide....

Well, I got these two, thanks! (say hi and thanks to your wife too!) ... but not the one you just left on "Lily in Sepia". Maybe try testing with others who have left comments on your image? very differnt in mood with the previous one.. his one has mor emphasis on the foreground. Not bad to emphaisze it, it has wonderful color and textures, wish you had two or more of that embeded white pebbles on it. It really looks very pristine, only touched by the waves. nice shot Rina!

Hello my dear gorgeous sweetiepie....I've come back. I had AOL problems and still having some with them cutting out all of the sudden; I think I'll break my contract and go with another outfit.
I do love this composition and I haven't yet had the benefit of seeing the previous shot....aah, the penalties of trying to catch up. I love the dark moodiness of the scene and Wagner works for me as well. The sky detail with those threatening clouds is wonderful...though I thought you had laws over there that banned grey skies:):) I particularly love the rock formation's reflections on the wet sands. Well done to you my lovely Aussie Kiwi..A great big hug and my very best wishes as always......Rayx

Ooh I like it Rina. I bet there will be lots of differing opinions on the cropping of this, but I like the expanse of sand in the front. It gives the eye plenty of travel time to get to the cleft in the rock. Nice composition and tones. Susie
