Very nice macro. The colors are great, although you could have used a different color in the background to make the 2 shells stand out. The depth is great too, could be wider so the shells in the background would be in the frame. Border, you could have used a thin, solid color border instead of the wide gradient border, but this is only my taste :)
By the way, thanks for your comments, I always find them to be the most valuable and helpful.

Well i must say, i like swans more... They do not kill and are waiting for love. I see, the DOF is concentrated on the dark one, the orange shell is a bit blured... The background is good and also the lightning and composition. I miss the dramatic moment but everything else I can not judge because I don't know much about macro... You said something about explosion... maybee for increasing the dramaticy you should add a shotgun in the background or some bullets...somehow to be blured like the third shell is, but still recognizable.
PS: Thanks a lot on your very kind and helpfull commenr on my reflection. I placed some thoughts under your comment on the reflection image. Best regards and friendly greets Andrej

btw what were you doing back in the past looking at that old pickle photo? It is one that I often consider removing, never quite worked out how I wanted it too...

very tough - plastic reflects light so very readily and you can have low light, and still end up with hot spots...(I know, all too well!) :)
The composition is dynamic, the colors complimentary, the pattern at the end of the shell is almost floral in feel...the light is pretty well controlled although not perfect...
I must say for a subject that I would not enjoy shooting and don't find appealing - the image is nicely graphic and does keep my attention...
