From the aesthetic point of view, I like image 1 most of all but this one fascinates me for the various details, which make the image a little messy but at the same time interesting. I like this series cause I am fond of beautiful buildings. Modern architecture in extravagant futuristic style always fascinates me. The diagonal composition and the perspective characterizing this series of your is a favorite things for many photographers and never stops amazing me.
Beautiful natural colours, sharp and clear.

I really like the clarity here and the perfect exposure balance between the sky, the reflective towers and the signs. the flag holders look like trumpets here. great perspective...
minor nitpicks include the frame (personally, I don't like the color too much... maybe a bold black one would fit the subject better) and the general "way up". I mean, there is a lot of symmetry here (which I like), but the flag holders connect the left and the right side so that some tension is lost (a gap between the more traditional left and the more future right may enhance the message).
anyway, a fine work from you. good to have u back, my friend =)

Hello Hugo, it is nice to see you back. An interesting series, this last one starts to bring us down, to as you say, the shadows. Your words do clearly describe the almost two seperate worlds that exist. Those below that occasionally as you have done,look upward for brief moments, and those elevated as they are,peering down at the 'ants'(worker ants).
I cannot help but think of the WTC Towers when I read the last line that you wrote above and in the previous SkyII, 'the minute instant' that will bring about their eventual downfall.

Hi Judi, Everything is fine with me, I've been really busy lately, but don't worry. I tried to capture this HK city view (as always) the way I experienced it. The lack of hidden emotion is because of the conflict between the cold, emotionless city, which I find on one hand fascinating and inspiring, but on the other hand cold, ridden of personality and oppressive. Did you read my description? It tries to explain the hidden emotion in this series...
Next series will be completely different again, and I'll post a similar series of NYC soon, which provides an entirely different view.

Hi Antonia, I fully relate to what you describe. I've been in and out of airports too regularly the last few months. As Stefan pointed out, there's a conflict between the nature of the photos in this series and the description. The conflict is one of awe and rebellion. I find these big cities inspiring, fascinating and beautiful on one hand, but oppressive, overwhelming and ridden of personality. That's what I tried to express with this series. It's good to be back...:)

Only artistic eye and pro arrangement can catch and out put this composition, all in one, what I like is the precise angle shot to capture the perspective lines all the way till the sky, reflection adds an extra touch to the wonderful architecture composition. Despite what this represents, it's a beautiful photo! I love the clouds and colors reflected in the one building. This makes me somewhat dizzy. Hugo, having worked in buildings like this for so many years of my life (ages 20 - 48), your words have much meaning for me. Many hard moments living that life, but many easy ones too (after all, we're not exactly "toiling in the fields"). There are no windows, and there is a feeling of being trapped. I used to envy the ones who got to go to outside meetings and travel to other cities, but then when I did that I found another form of torture was to be had (airports and taxi's and flitting in and out of traffic and buildings just the same -- just in other places). Nonetheless, I still saw their beauty as I looked up at them during lunch breaks or on the way to and from work. And I pondered those things about which you write. You've captured it so well here, just like a chord in a musical refrain. Bravo! Antonia

Hi Stefan, you're quite right about the contradiction between the about and the image. I don't think the text supports it entirely, but in respect to the other two images and their respective description, things might fall into place. Then again, another part of this series is exactly what you refer to; the conflict between the photo and the underlying text; on one hand the text paints a grim image of something that really fascinates me. I think, that my bias in this issue is subsidary to what other people see and feel when they look at the combination image - text, though. Like you say, I'd like to leave that choice to the viewer.
I know I'm circumventing the issue. What I really tried to express with these three images is the inherent feeling of insecurity / lack of self confidence which is the flip side, but always accompanies every major decision: "Am I doing the right thing, and what if.....?"

Quite the proclamation, Hugo :-) The image supports it but there is a conflict in it that either contradicts or supports it too, all depending on your state of mind... I am thinking of the gray and lifeless sign in the shadowed foreground contrasted with the bright blue sky and those tall brilliantly lit skyscrapers. I think this perspective can support associations of both hope and opression and the choice is basically the viewer's. The question is how do you as a photographer bias that impression? My conclusion is that your text is the most powerful tool in that regard since the image is very ambivalent as I read it.

The strong angles are both amazing and form a powerful element in this image. I like how there is so much detail to look at, but the image holds together without being confusing. Perhaps it is the strong graphic element that helps accomplish this.

When you look up it looks like the whole city is made out of mirrors! Reflections of flags on the left, buildings on the right, really amazing shot, again. The clouds in this picture are great, they break the otherwise bit boring sky. Amazing colours, but i still don't know what to think of the sign 'cafe' yet! If the photo was taken 2steps forward it would not get on the picture, but than you also missed the flags, so i think it is for the best!
