Hi Dave, what a unique shot, I was confused at first, a really creative and excellent perspective here! I like that we can see the painting up close and see those finishing touches too, you can tell he is really in his own world and a lovely painter too...well captured! :)

At times these captures taken furtively turn into very interesting images! Yours is such a one!Like many of your visitors here, I like this indiscreet look over the shoulder! YT

Excellent shot Dave.
Although, I think I would have cropped a little off the top to eliminate some of the slightly distracting background.
All the best, Ed

An interesting POV on this one Dave. At first I thought that the building was in the background of the image instead of the actual painting. Andre

Georgeous image, Dave! If it were possible to have full depth of field (as a painter might have done it,) then it would be an amazing and classical piece of art. I thing it is very intimate and poignant taken from your point of view! Eb

Hi Art, thanks for the comment! No we didn't buy this particular one, it wasn't finished by the time we left, but we did get one from another artist painting by the Seine. BTW, congrats on the award for your snowy owl shot! Dave.

Wonderful shot Dave, perfect composition for this and just the right shutter speed to show the two working artists creating. Of course you are the second artist. Well done. Best to you, Ken

Excellent perspective in this one Dave, You let us see both enough of the artist and the painting to get the feeling of looking over his shoulder. He almost appears to be painting a structure rather than a canvas since we do not see the edge of the painting. Del.

Quite an unusual way to depict what you saw over the shoulders of the artist, Dave! It looks as if he were not only painting, but rather *creating reality* as the facades on his canvas take the place of a real existing background. Even that stick seems to be a part of real world - perhaps a railing of steps that lead to the underground, or to some lower part of a city.
Great find and even better shot out of it!
Nick
