Hey Kes, Moody Landscape, no ? Altough the sky is a bit over the top concerning post-processing the overall of the shot looks very good. Good job and keep it up. Comments comes a bit late perhaps but with so many posting here :) Grtz,

Hi Gianna, thanks for the nice comments. I think there was a polarizing filter used, but not sure. The sky was given a post process graduated tint filter effect.

Whoa, wait just a minute.... is this near Mosca (near Alamosa), on the road to the Great Sand Dunes? I think I shot this place, check this out: http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1340130
Sure looks like the same house...

Thanks Dave! This area of the San Luis Valley is about 250 miles south/southwest of Denver...so it is safe for awhile. I also lived in the Metro area for a couple of years - don't miss it a bit! kes

Beautiful view and I love the tones of the building itself. I hope that isn't Denver creeping up in the background. It's such a shame what has happened to Metro, it used to be such a great place to live. I miss it... until I go back and fight the masses.
Best to you, Dave

Nice image Kes...I would go for either 'moody landscape ' or if I don't know - which 'I am not sure either' I always fall back on 'personal style' Excellent shot tho--nicely composed ! superb exposure - great shot ! Michele~

yeah i had GIMP on a Linux system but found it lacking in versatility so went back to Photoshop. Mind you that was years ago and things have changed i am sure....I am sure all the Geek boys are improving it all the time. I think the crop is good and the drama excellent. Don't sell this one short.

Hey Tim, thanks! Yes, that blue above the building is overdone. Not sure if my freebie "Gimp" (really, that's the name) program can desaturate a specific area. I probably should read the directions sometime, lol. Also, the top of the shot is pretty bland...but a crop didn't work imo..

hey supper wicked and dramatic image.....you done good my friend! the only thing i might suggest is to desat the cyans a bit. The D80 has a tendency to make Cyan a bit over done. I know some of my submissions have the same fault as well. It is the way the D80 CCD reading the light. Either way i love it but it is just something to play with to see which way you like it i guess for me it depends on my mood of the moment...lol... OFF to bed! ..gack... it is 2:30 am!!!!...

Hi Kes, Yes I believe "Alone" is a good choice for this one. The image is quite strong with those basic colours. It almost has the feel of one of those animation plates. The colour is very "Disney" in a good way, if you know what I mean. I wonder is there is an old abandoned truck on the other side of this place :) Andre

Very Striking ... beautiful shot. I too have difficulty with the "projects". Many times I wish they had more to choose from and other times a photograph fits into several. Can't say I have a suggestion that would help but "Alone" seems to work so I'd say leave it Alone ;o)

Thanks Deb! Duly noted on the project selection...my error...of course...however, now thinking....there was a moment when they decided to leave...each time you see the house....you see the moment? :)

the first thing is sparkling on my mind is the white colored house, with dark brownish roof...
It's got a very high contrast with other elements such has, grass, clouds, blue sky,
Secondly, the most amazing thing is the use of space...
i believe the house is a very strong positive elements in and the rest are negative...
it talks about the story that none of us know, but itself... It suites the project for variety of reasons...
1- it's still alive... even without habitant... 2- it's still does exist and can be used... if anyone is interested... 3- it's in a very good friendship with the surrounding nature...and obviously life it shows a very subtle meaning in life, that we can stand even if we are alone and have to stand on our own legs independently...
Very great composition... not distracting my eyes at all, also move my eyes smoothly from left to right....
Excellent VISION... I JUST LOVE IT...
Stay Happy, Ardalan...
PS: to my FAV for sure...

Wow, that house is really in the middle of nowhere! Nice work capturing this, it is absolutely amazing! The contrast is AWESOME, as well as the perfect lighting and vivid coloring! I LOVE the sky... and really everything about this whole photo! PERFECT photo here! :) ~Rachel~
p.s. i'm interested to know why it is under the "decisive moment" photo project? seems like there's an interesting reason, but I just can't guess it!
