You must be really mentally prepared to live in a place like that, so remote.

Hi Ina, the area where the diamond mines are located is generally much flatter, but I think they get dramatic clouds and that "big sky" feel (kinda like the prairies). Of course, the bugs are wicked bad there... not quite so vicious up in the mtns. Great northern lights though in both places (when it's dark enough). This camp is almost half way between Ross River and Watson Lake. It really is secluded in that respect!!

Hi Gary, now I see it! Very beautiful picture, love the colors of the snow. The place looks... well... secluded :) I have friends who work for a diamond mine 300km NE of Yellowknife, but they are not photographers. I imagine the landscape must be great in the summer!

Hi Ina... yes, indeed there is a city there (o; well a camp city at any rate... here's the pic to prove it. I do enjoy being able to get out to some of these remote places. It's amazing how much variety there is all over, and I have only seen such a small fraction of it. Thanks for your comments. Gary ps it's named "emerald city" because it is an exploration camp for an emerald project. Yes there are emeralds in them thar hills!!!

Emerald City? Is there a city in there? Very beautiful, again, I love these land forms, they show beautiful shapes and vibrant colors without the vegetation. Great sky too, and a bit of snow. It reminds me of Death Valley from what I've seen in my travels. Thanks for sharing these far-away beautiful and less known corners of Canada. Regards, Ina

I really love the curves in this one. Super colours and great textures. How do you find all these wonderful soooooo isolated places? Another great image for your already superb portfolio.
Thanks also for taking the time to view and comment on my images. Much appreciated.
Oh and by the way.....the wedding couple in my image WERE the Wedding Buffet for the lizard I think but I didn't hang around in case he wanted dessert. :)
Cheers - Ann :)

You've got another excellent shot here, Gary. I really like the sweeping contour of the ridge, along with the rich tones.
Nice job!

You've got some great landscape shots in your portfolio, but this must be my favourite one! I just can't help liking the clash of blue and that orangy brown of the ridge, it's really something! Thankyou for your comments! Cheers, Niclas

I like your choice to keep such a tiny space for the sky; may be the tele effect here squeeze the far zone of the curved mountain with thw near place in such a way destroying a bit any 3d effect
