About I have for years raised and propagated Amaryllis bulbs. Starting with one bulb I now have more than I have room for so I give them away. This years crop produced some of the largest bulbs I have ever grown. I will pot them in January for blooms in February and March.

Michael. you might try when you bring it in this fall, remove it from the pot, cut off the top, and store it in a dark dry place, (brown paper bag is fine) for at least 8 weeks then repot it around early January. I dont promise that will assure a bloom but they do need about 8 dormant weeks to generate a bloom stalk. Just leavinig in the pot with no water will some times work but not always. Next year if you put it back outside it is better if you remove it from the pot and plant it directly in the soil. Good luck, Del.

Just wonderful, we have one that we have had for some time, it goes out in the summer and then we cut it back and see if it will bloom in the winter, so far it has only bloomed once!

In January I plant the bulbs in pots for blooming inside in Feb. and March. I transfer them from the pots to my garden in spring to grow for the summer. In October I dig and store the bulbs in dark area until January. While growing in the garden they develop small off shoots which can be developed into bulbs large enough to bloom in about two years.

Good grief!! That's one of the largest bulbs I've ever seen! I thought of you yesterday when out in the pasture behind my house. There is some kind of old gadget out there. Not sure what it was used for. I thought " Del would know!" Nice shot Del. Send me some of those bulbs if you get too many .. be glad to take them! Lol

Nice layout and balance, Del. Looking forward to what blooms in February. Great detail, right down to the dirt on your fingertips.
