Thanks for the comments !! The brown tint is the result of printing the negatives on color paper. Portra 400BW and 400CN can both be utilized in this way. As far as the aperature goes, I think it was 2.8 but I rarely take notes when I am shooting. Keep an eye out for more pictures of Amanda... I promise you will get to see her face one of these days. JCB :)
Jason, I don't think that this is a photo of "the girl". I think that this is a photo of "a girl making coffee", and hence I don't mind not being able to see her face at all. I think it works exactly how it is. Now as for the film used... Was it the Portra that gave it that - almost - brownish tint or was it you in Photoshop? I only ask from curiosity. I think that the brownish tint (hope it's not my monitor...) adds to the image. I tend to associate the "brown tint" with coffee anyway. Overall, this is a very nice photo.
BTW, one of the things I always look in photos posted on usefilm, is the aperture and shutter speed. I'd really would have like to have seen what you opted for.
The focus is great, with the girl standing off of the blurry right side of the frame and balanced by the focused left. I agree, though, that I just wish we could see her better (although, this may have nothing to do with the composition of the photograph...)
