About This pretty sunflower hasn't yet opened up - and someone mentioned that it looked like an eye - hence the title.

Thanks Lisa - I wonder how I did all that? I might be dangerous once I learn what I am doing or suppose to be doing! Jan

The focus on this sunflower is amazing. It appears that the focus is sharp around the outer perimeter of the flower. The center of the sunflower and the background and foreground are blurred perfectly. The yellow petals of the flower appear to look as if they are ruffles. Great image.

Thanks Mary - I know the background is another shot that is a little brightly colored and busy - but I have been in a bright mode with my quilting too. Perhaps it is to offset that massive amount of Arizona desert tans, beiges, grey clouds (monsoon season), gravel, bare rocks with little vegitation, etc. Our wonderful farming and orchard areas are rapidly disappearing and being replaced with rooftops in that same reddish brown, tan, beige - etc. Darn! Janice, you're on a roll with your new camera. This does look like an eye and it is beautiful. It's full of warmth and friendliness. I love the vivid colours of the sunflower.

Much better Don - did you get in to curves and darken the background? Think I was trying to lighten and soften, but what you did is better. The sunflower is probably so bright that a soft pale background just doesn't work. Probably why I was not happy with it. Thanks - Jan

Hi Janice, is this something like you wanted to do with this picture. I didn't blur anything but could with the same method. Send me an email if you would like to see how it is done. My address is in my profile. Thanks Don.

Don - Thank you for your comment, and I think you are right about the background - Tried to soften the colors in the background and blur things a little more - couldn't get what I wanted and finally gave up and posted this one. Jan

That is what Kim said. Great capture of the flower, I think the shot is fine the way it is.
The Brightness of the Sunflower in front of the rest of the other flowers is Presented Well.
Keep up the great work!

Very nice of the sunflower. Maybe the background is a bit busy and bright. Don.
