Pankaj,
This is a definite improvement, composition-wise. The rock is still there, but now in its entirety and as part of the image, not just poking in from the outside.
I agree with George about the black "border" at the bottom --- not entirely sure why it is there.
I also agree with George regarding contrast, and I would definitely try to increase that digitally, either throughout or just for the background.

Hye George!
I would agree with most part of the critique you have given (coz u mentioned a different scenario where there are actually lots of possibilities) but i am not sure if you realized it was an outdoor shot where my effort was to shot in as in situation...i got myself stuck in a very classic situation where you have got both black and white in the same frame and with equal visual space also....(notice the centre of the mushroom, which is almost white). Invariably either white gets underexposed or black gets overexposed..had i just taken a close up would still had-2 been easier for me to accomplish what you are mentionning...and accomplish i did in another frame whose crop i already did post here..
I don't know of a way by which i could have taken this picture in any different way(though this doesn't holds true for DOF)....
regards Pankaj P.s.That black border was a last min. thing and i was actually quite unsure about it's usefulness...thanx for clearing my mind

This is a fine composition of a very interesting subject well placed in its surroundings. The tonalities, though, are a bit flat. The mushroom needs a bit more emphasis. If you were setting up this shot in a studio, you would probaly spotlight the mushroom and give it stronger sharpness and contrast--and perhaps even a different, contrasting, color for the ground. The black border on the bottom is a minor distraction, too. That's the best I can do . . . (wink) . . . but it is really a very nice still-life as you have presented it here. Best regards, --George BTW--I'm leaving for a long week-end. I'll be back on Monday . . .
