Ok Dave let us rip this apart. nice pose And nice choice of background colours. your lighting is too high, see the dark shadow under her neck and how the shadows are fatning her jowls. The hair needs a bit more light as does the sweater but this could be the scan. if Im not mistaken this is the third of your "formal" portraits and this is the best but just consentrate on where your light is falling and what effect they are having. not a bad job and a really good try. don't you dare get discouraged because you do have it in you, it just takes work to pull it all together. do a portrait as good as that watch shot and I'll fall off my chair. See we already know what you can do if you apply yourself. SHOOT
